The number of volunteer hours contributed by the Bexar County Master Gardeners is reported to the Bexar County Commissioners where it is used as a measure of our involvement with community education and service.
We have some MGs who have not recorded one hour of volunteer service in 2016 although several of them have provided extensive volunteer hours throughout our programs. Some take it as a measure of independence to not record hours. Others simply forget. Notwithstanding the reason, failure to record your hours hurts the Master Gardeners and AgriLife in our relationships with the County Commissioners and our ability to demonstrate in grant requests that we are a viable and important community service organization.
Please remember that all Master Gardeners were advised in January that there will be no extension for recording hours in order to meet your minimum membership requirement.
