Ruby Zavala became a Bexar County Master Gardener in 2015 and is a certified Junior Master Gardener leader. It is as Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Youth Gardens Coordinator where Ruby has successfully coordinated and facilitated Fall and Spring Youth Garden Educator Trainings for over 130 teachers seasonally, coordinated Youth Activities for the Little Buckaroo Farms at the San Antonio Livestock Expo and Rodeo, and worked closely with the Bexar County Master Gardeners to develop the Classroom Gardens Program where over 10,000 students are reached annually.
To ensure the safety of the public, we have all had to move to online resources to continue educating our youth about gardening. Join in on this month’s general meeting to learn how the Bexar County Youth Gardens Program has developed new content and online resources to ensure that we are reaching out to as many youth as possible. Just because face-to-face programming has been suspended, it does not mean we should give up on the education of our students.
